Haley Reinhart found herself a regular resident of the Bottom Three during the early rounds of the American Idol finals. But no more. Despite getting slagged by Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson for Wednesday's performance of Michael Jackson's Earth Song, she'll be one of three singers traveling to their hometowns in the coming days.
So will Lauren Alaina.
And Scotty McCreery.
"Unfortunately, we lose James tonight," Ryan said. James Durbin looked stunned, as he blinked on the stage and signaled to his family that he was okay.
"I worked so damn hard to get here," he said, fighting back tears, before singing Paul McCartney's Maybe I'm Amazed as his goodbye song. "God, I was really hoping to get there, but, you know, I had a feeling today. God, I did so much stuff that's never been done on this show before ... In my eyes, in my mind, I did what I came here to do -- and that was to give metal a chance."
So after eliminating five women to start the finals, the Idol voters having cast off five consecutive male singers. And that means we'll have a woman in the finale.
