It's Action Figure Friday!
Recommend
Each Friday it's nice to take a moment from our busy work weeks to admire each others' toy-- ahem, action figures. Personally, I'm a girl who likes to remove her figures from the packaging, but I've been noticing more and more of you like to keep yours in pristine condition! I admire your restraint.
Let's begin here with Jennifer G.'s Xena figure. "I have always loved Xena, and I can't even remember if I bought this for myself or if someone bought it for me," she says. "It pops up in various places around my house. "Her accessories are long gone but I keep her around to remember that girl power is awesome."
"I'm a first-year teacher, with almost nothing exciting or decorative in my classroom," says Julie B. (ChinacatSun76). "I'm incredibly jealous of these Poe and Jane Austen figures my neighbor and friend Beth has on her bookshelves."
From Rob B.: "While I'm sure many of your Pop enthusiasts have a Yoda figure, how many can boast a small Stanley Cup? I don't have a lot of space in my work area, but these two figures allow me to combine my pop-culture nerdiness with my love of the best sport."
"When Heath Ledger died, I picked up these two pieces," says BIG BUSINESS. "One is a Joker bust sculpted by Kolby Jukes, which is a limited edition of 6,000 pieces. The other is a Joker bobblehead that captures the essence of the late actor's intense performance as the Clown Prince of Crime."
Finally, Amy H. sent me this in-box pic: "I was crazy about Alias when it came out, and my husband bought me these for Christmas," she says. "I work at a university and keep them in my office. I can't believe it's been 10 years! I still want to be Sydney Bristow!"
If you'd like to share a pic of your beloved action figure(s), just drop me a line at popcandy@usatoday.com. Don't forget to include your name, city and a brief description of the photo.
